Raising Awareness about Operating Room Fires

Part of the SensorMed mission is to educate medical professionals and patients about the dangers of fires and burns in the Operating Room.  A few simple measures can greatly reduce the risk and danger of patient burns and OR fires.  Our CableCap device is an important tool to help clinicians prevent a tragedy during a surgical procedure.

SensorMed Receives FDA Approval for CableCap Device

September 14th, 2010 proved to be a historical day for SensorMed, with the receipt of our company’s first FDA approval for a medical device. The CableCap fire safety instrument gained FDA 510K approval in just under 100 days. This turnaround time is exceptional for any company, and especially so for a company in our stage of development. We are excited to bring this valuable device to market, and we’re excited about the safety benefits it is going to provide patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery.

SensorMed Collaborates with UT Vet School for Needle Guidance Devices Study

SensorMed has supported the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in a study utilizing needle guidance prototype devices. Preliminary results from canine studies being performed by Dr. Whittemore’s laboratory are very promising. Further studies aimed at enhancing the device remain ongoing.  This research indicates a strong potential for efficacy success in the subsequent human trials, scheduled to begin in late 2010 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

G. Bruce Charles joins SensorMed Board of Advisors

SensorMed is pleased to announce that G. Bruce Charles will be joining us as a member of the SensorMed Board of Advisors. We are incredibly excited to have access to Mr. Charles' unique and relevant experience in the areas of finance and healthcare. His resume includes 12 years as the Founder and President of Johnson and Johnson Finance Corporation, an entity within J&J that provides a wide spectrum of financial services, including the review and execution of M&A deals for healthcare and biotechnology companies. Mr. Charles has also founded and served in executive roles for multiple start-up companies, including his tenure as President and CEO of EyeCorp, Inc, an opthalmic physician practice management group that Mr. Charles took public in 1996. Currently, Mr. Charles serves as a Founding Partner in charge of M&A for Financial Solutions Worldwide (FSW), a consulting firm which helps manufacturers and franchisors develop financing solutions. As we continue to progress forward and address the key milestones necessary for our company's success, Mr. Charles' expertise will be a vital asset for us.

SensorMed Working to Educate Legislature

SensroMed is meeting with Tennessee Legislative, Executive and Healthcare leaders about the dangers of fires and patient burns in the Operating Room settings.  The danger is real, widespread, but under-reported.  SensorMed is taking the initiative to seek out state leaders and convey the need to raise the visibility of this threat to patient care.
